What is a go bag?

A Go Bag is a bag that has everything you need to help keep you safe and well during an emergency.  When you have an emergency or must evacuate your home, you can grab your bag and ---- GO!  When you have just minutes to evacuate, you won’t have time to think about what you should pack to survive the days to come, so the time to prepare for your family’s safety is now.  The actual bag can be anything that will carry what you will need.  The type of bag that you use isn’t as important as the items inside the bag.  As long as the bag can be carried and be durable then what it looks like or made of doesn’t matter.  When packing a go bag there are some things that need to be considered:

Will each member of the household need their own go bag?
What are the most important things that you will need to have in your go bag?
Where will you keep the bag for easy access?

Those that live in mobile homes should always be ready to leave their homes during severe weather

With the right gear in your go bag, you can ALWAYS BE READY for what comes your way. Remember to keep your batteries fresh and medications up-to-date, and reevaluate your bag’s contents each season to stay prepared.
